Contour lines indicate where your design should be cut. Whether you want to cut out an image or a specific shape, with the right contour line we ensure a perfect result. This way you get nice shapes like this breakfast set next to it!
What will you learn in the video?
In our new explanation video we show you step by step how to add a contour line to your design file. You will learn how to create a separate layer in Adobe Illustrator called "Thru-cut", how to draw a vector line around your image with the Pen tool, and how to then provide this line with a spot color. We also explain why it is important that your file does not contain transparent backgrounds or white margins, so that the end result is cut out exactly as you intended. Finally, you will see how to correctly save the file as PDF/X-1a:2001, so that everything is recognized correctly when printing and cutting.
