Designing a printed spine

Printed spine...how do you make the cover?

Do you also want to have your book bound without thread with a beautiful printed binding spine, but have no idea where to start? Don't panic! Read on quickly and by the end you will be a pro!

First of all...

Before you start designing your cover with a binding spine, there is one important question: how thick will your book actually be?

That depends on a few things: the size, the number of pages, the type of paper and how you have it finished. Sounds complicated? Don't worry!

Just fill in the order form with the choices you have in mind for your book. Then our system does the rest and automatically calculates how thick your book will be.

👉 You can see this in two places:

On the right in the order form under "How thick will my book be?" Note: always round this number down.

Or go to "add" and click on the heading dimensions. You will then immediately see to the millimeter how big your cover should be. Handy, right?

Yes! You now know how big your cover should be 🎉

Time to start designing!

You can use one of our handy templates (saves work!), or of course create something cool yourself.

Do you also want to print the inside of your cover?

Great idea! Make sure you add a second page to your PDF, with exactly the same size as the outside.
