You can think of total ink coverage as the amount of ink the printer uses to reproduce a colour on paper. The higher the percentage, the more ink is available to build up the colour.
This is especially important for light colours. These often have a low total ink coverage, which means the printer uses very little ink. If the ink coverage is too low, it can be difficult to reproduce the colour accurately. As a result, a light colour may look different than expected or even appear almost white.
But too much ink isn’t ideal either. If the total ink coverage is too high, colours may turn out very dark or even black.
For the best result, we recommend a total ink coverage between 150% and 230%. This gives the printer enough ink to reproduce your colours properly, without making them too dark.
