What is the layout of a file?

The layout (also called design) of printed material refers to how various texts and images are positioned on the page. A good layout makes the printed material more attractive. It also determines which information stands out first.

Maintaining the correct layout when printing

Commonly used programs for designing printed material are Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign. To ensure that the layout of the printed material remains intact, we recommend providing the document as a PDF. With this file format, documents always appear the same, regardless of which software is used to view or print them.
