What are the standard paper sizes?

In the Netherlands, paper sizes are almost always expressed with the A-standard. The most common size is A4 (21 by 29.7 cm). This is the size that you will find in the printers in your home or at the office, and when you open a word document on your computer, it will also have the A4 size by default.

The A series

The largest size of the A series is A0 (84.1 x 118.9 cm), a size suitable for posters. All sizes in the A standard have the same proportions. When you fold an A4 sheet in the middle you get an A5 sheet, and when you fold that again you get an A6.

The B series

In addition to the A series, there is also the B series. B0 and B1 are sizes that are often used for posters. B0 (100 x 141 cm) is larger than A0 and therefore offers even more space. The B series works in the same way as the A series in terms of proportions, where folding the sheet in half creates the next size in the series.

Abri

The last standard size we work with is the Abri size (118.5 x 175 cm). Abri is a French word for "guard house" or "shelter". You will also find this large size in the "guard houses" at tram, bus and train stops.
