Design tips for your photobook

Design tips for a photobook

Photobooks are a great way to turn pictures into lasting memories. Did you take beautiful photos during your vacation, wedding, travels, etc., and do you want to combine these memories in a photobook? Check our design tips for a professional photobook!

1.    Consider the colors

Use colors that match well with each other and the subject. The colors you choose can strengthen the mood and feeling you want to convey. If you want your photo album to be consistent, we recommend you to have your pictures match. You can achieve this by having photos with the same filters or colors.

2.    Get inspired

Don't know yet how you want to design your photo album? Looking at other photobooks can help you with creating your own. You can use the inspiration you get from others for new ideas to use in the design of your book.

3.    Tell a story

It is nice to use your photobook to convey a story. Therefore, photos are often placed in chronological order to create a storyline. Imagine you want to create a photobook using pictures from a holiday: you start with pictures from your journey to the destination and end the album with pictures from when you traveled back home.

4.    Determine the size

You should decide on the size of your photo album before you start making it. This can be a difficult choice because there are so many options. Most people opt for landscape orientation for their photobook, as this offers the most space for photos. Consider which size fits your photos and subject best.

5.    Keep it simple

It is better to keep your photobook simple than to have too many images on one page. Don't try to fit every picture you took into your book but make a selection of the best ones. Do you find it difficult to decide which photos to use? Try to take a critical look at your photos as if you are a professional photographer.

6.    Use photos on the whole width

Some pictures look their best when you place them over two full pages next to each other. Keep in mind that these pictures need to have a high resolution because it would be a shame if the quality of the photo is too low.
